Anti-Manifesto

Yuck City! is a lot of things to a lot of people. That’s probably a lie, but it has the potential to be, I guess. It's an “arts-n-culture zine” to the people who sit in cafés and listen to the Mountain Goats. It is a nuisance to the environment, as the vast majority of the issues will end up spread throughout the garbage bins of East Lansing. It is a Dadaist anti-manifesto to all of the editors, which really just gives us a blank check say and do whatever we want without any concern for relevance or sensibility. In the end though, we just want YC! to be a magazine and community that encourages creativity, promotes DIY ethics, and is simply something fun and unpretentious that anyone can enjoy.

If you are reading this inaugural issue, then we should already be thanking you, but being the inconsiderate bastards we are, we will instead ask you for a favor. Even though you might not think you have creative ability, you do. If you’re reading this and you like what you see, we ask only that you contribute something of your own to help, be it a story, poem, piece of art or a delicious recipe. There are no requirements for admission aside from this: if it is something that deserves to be seen, we’ll publish it.
